Where to Get the CatchOn TV App
Take the CatchOn TV App from one source only: the setup instructions inside your activation email from IPTV Shift. They contain a download link or a download code. On a Fire TV with Fire OS, or on Android TV, the link or code goes into an app called Downloader; on an Android phone or tablet, the link opens in your browser. Misplaced the email? Your IPTV Shift account shows the same details under Subscriptions.
Link or code: what your instructions hold
The email comes after two things happen: your crypto payment collects its confirmations on the blockchain, and the team switches your subscription on. Alongside your login, the setup instructions give one of these for the app:
- A download link. A web address pointing at the APK file. Downloader can fetch it on a TV device, and a phone’s browser can open it directly.
- A download code. Digits for Downloader’s address box, entered with nothing in front of them. They install the app and do nothing else: the code isn’t your login, the sign-in screen won’t take it, and it isn’t an activation code you pay for separately.
Fire TV: install with Downloader
Downloader fetches files from outside the Amazon Appstore onto a Fire TV, and you get Downloader itself from that same Appstore. The pattern is simple: allow it, install, then revoke the permission.
- Look up Downloader in the Amazon Appstore and install it.
- Go to Settings, pick My Fire TV, then About. Televisions with Fire TV built in label that menu Device & Software.
- Highlight your device’s name, the first entry in About, and press select seven times; a message eventually reports that you’re already a developer. Step back one screen.
- A Developer Options menu has appeared. Inside it, under Install unknown apps, set Downloader to on; older Fire OS builds offer a single toggle called Apps from Unknown Sources.
- Start Downloader. In its address field, enter the link or the digits exactly as your instructions print them, then choose Go.
- On the installer screen, choose Install.
- Back in Downloader, pick Delete so the leftover installer file doesn’t take up storage.
- Revisit Install unknown apps and set Downloader to off.
- Hold the Home button, choose Apps, launch the CatchOn TV App from there and sign in.
Two snags are worth knowing. Downloader may be absent from Install unknown apps, a Fire OS defect seen in August and September 2026. Amazon started distributing a fix in mid-September 2026: update the system software to its newest version, restart, and look at the list again. Or About may name Vega OS, in which case stop: that system accepts Amazon Appstore apps only, and the CatchOn TV App can’t be installed there.
Android TV and Google TV work along similar lines. Downloader comes from Google Play there; type the link or code, and when Android blocks the install, allow Downloader to install unknown apps.
Android phone or tablet: install from the browser
- Open the activation email on the phone, or sign in to your IPTV Shift account and open Subscriptions.
- In the setup instructions, tap the download link and let the browser save the APK.
- Open the saved file from the notification shade or the browser’s download list.
- Android will probably object that the browser can’t install unknown apps. Tap Settings in that warning, allow it, and come back.
- Tap Install, then open the app and enter your CatchOn TV username and password.
- Go back to the same permission and turn it off for the browser.
Phone makers word these menus differently, so match the words rather than the exact screens. Got a code instead of a link? Codes are for Downloader; if a phone is your target, ask support how to get the app onto it.
Only from the link you were sent
Search results, video tutorials and forums offer plenty of APK files and Downloader codes that claim to install IPTV apps. Ignore them. The link or code in your setup instructions is the one IPTV Shift gives you with your order; a file from elsewhere may be stale or tampered with, and a stranger’s code can send Downloader to any file at all.
Updates and repairs follow the same rule. For the current version, or when the app misbehaves or won’t sign in, reinstall using your setup instructions; if that install fails, uninstall the existing copy and run it again. That’s why Downloader can stay on a Fire TV, with its permission switched off between installs. Once the app is on screen, signing in takes a minute, and the device table shows where else it runs.
